Investing in Laguna Beach Real Estate is a great decision and finding a home for sale under $750,000 may be difficult unless you know where to look. The Laguna Beach area offers a variety of choices for those looking to get into the area in 2012. But beware. The opportunities to buy in at bottom of the market values are fleeting. With the election in November, the prices that are seen in listings all across the area right now have no guarantee of staying the same. In fact, they will most certainly begin their ascent in 2013 and rise to new levels throughout the next 5 to 10 years. The smart money says to buy now instead of later. If you are ready to go, then we recommend these three areas:

1. South Laguna

South Laguna Beach is known for its breathtaking scenery and wide selection of luxury homes. What it has not been known for in the past, however, are prices under the seven figure threshold. Not so in today’s real estate market. If you look, you can find many selections around the $750,000 range. Real estate agents are anxious to get more people in these homes because they know that buying in now means big profits in the years to come, and the only way to build repeat business and spread positive word of mouth is to make the transaction as profitable as they can for their clients.

2. Laguna Canyon

The Laguna Canyon has views that you cannot get anywhere else in the area. While South Laguna takes great advantage of proximity to the water front, the Canyon allows more all encompassing views while still being within a few minutes of drive time to the water. Amazingly enough, the substantial views offered here in this community of homes can be had for less than $1 million. Listings are starting to show homes at around the $750,000 range (and sometimes less). Of course, as the market starts to recover, these low costs will climb.

3. Laguna Village

The Laguna Village of homes are quaint and relaxing and they are closely established as a network of homes with the most friendliness and neighborly activities. Laguna Village is for those, who do not wish to live their life in a vacuum, but who, at the same time, like their privacy and like to have access to all the modern conveniences life has to offer.

Any one of these homes can offer a substantially sweet deal throughout the next year. After that, it is anyone’s guess, but popular opinion estimates that home costs are on the way up, especially with unemployment and underemployment continuing to fall and consumer confidence expanding. Get in on these advantages while you still can.

DEARBORN, MI – Patients suffering from sleep apnea and snoring can now seek treatment from Dr. Bruce Luria, Dearborn dentist. Dr. Bruce Luria is currently a member of the Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine and is pleased to share his expertise with other members of Luria & Birnholtz Family Dentistry and his patients to improve their quality of life.

The American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM) is dedicated to the treatment of sleep-related breathing disorders through use of oral appliance therapy. As part of the AADSM’s stated mission, Dr. Bruce Luria, Dearborn, MI dentist, works with his patients to create a positive public awareness of sleep disorders such as snoring and obstructive sleep apnea in Dearborn.

“When breathing becomes partially or completely obstructed, a potentially life-threatening condition known as sleep apnea is present. The next time you are told you snore, don’t get embarrassed. Visit us for further diagnosis and treatment. I look forward to working with my patients to establish proper treatment for a better night sleep,” said Dr. Bruce Luria, dentist in Dearborn, MI.

Sleep apnea is the cessation of breathing during sleep and is a common problem that affects both adults and children. Certain sleep apnea types can be treated by a dentist or oral surgeon. The National Institutes of Health estimate that more than 12 million Americans have sleep apnea, most often undetected or misdiagnosed.

When people are asleep, the muscles and soft tissues in the throat and mouth relax. The lower jaw and tongue drop back, blocking the airway opening. As the airway narrows, there is an increase in the velocity of air flowing through a person’s airway while breathing. This then causes the tissues in the mouth to begin to vibrate, which results in snoring. The sound heard when someone is snoring is actually the sound of the tissues in a person’s mouth and throat vibrating.

Patients who snore or know someone who snores, are encouraged to visit Dr. Bruce Luria, Dearborn sleep apnea dentist, today for further consultation. Oral appliances are comfortable, FDA approved, and easy to wear so that patients can end their snoring problems and achieve a better night’s sleep.

As winter is finally coming out of hibernation, sports and other activities will be taking a turn for the cold. From coasting down the snow-covered slopes to competitive hockey games, being aware of sports injuries, especially in the wintertime, is very important. By understanding the risks involved with winter sports, you can help to prevent and reduce common injuries to help keep you healthy for your best performance. If proper precautions are not taken to ensure warmth and safety, severe injuries can occur while performing winter sports.

Ice Hockey: Protect Yourself on the Ice

With professional hockey in full effect, many fans take to the ice on their own as well. As a hockey player – whether professional or recreational – injuries are often a common part of the game. Hockey players appear to be more prone to injuries than any other sports player, such as baseball or basketball. Much like football, hockey is a high impact sport and with their skates, they tend to move at a faster pace than most athletes.

Receiving chiropractic care can go a long way towards not just treating injuries, but also preventing them from occurring in the first place. Licensed chiropractors are known for their skill in treating spinal injuries and back pain, but can properly treat several other injuries. Your Downers Grove, IL chiropractor understands that treating the muscle, bones, and joints, that extend from the back, can go a long way to providing relief for your aches.

Skiing and Snowboarding: Take Precautions to the Slopes

Skiing and snowboarding involve a great deal of twisting and turning motions, as well as jarring landings. All of these can cause muscle sprains and strains, or even minor spinal fractures. The most common types of injury for skiing include knee contusion in children, a sprain of the ulnar collateral ligament of the thumb and a sprain of the anterior cruciate ligament in adults. The use of properly functioning equipment will help in preventing many injuries.

Where Does Your Downers Grove Chiropractor Come into Play?

During recent years, the need for chiropractic care for sports injuries has continually increased for both amateur and professionals. Upon injury, your chiropractor will treat your injury as promptly as possible in order to allow for proper recovery. Your chiropractor in Downers Grove can help in treating your injury as well as providing you with proper preventative measures that may include proper warm-up routines, as well as:

* Never participate alone
* Keep in shape and condition your muscles before participating
* Wear appropriate protective gear, including goggles, helmets, gloves and padding
* Check that your equipment is in good working order and used properly
* Wear several layers of light, loose and water-resistant clothing for warmth and protection
* Avoid participating when you are in pain or exhausted

Whether you are currently suffering from an injury or not, your Downers Grove chiropractor can help in prevention, and treatment. Taking proper precautions and talking with your chiropractor can help further your sports career and protect you from further complications later on in your life.

Promoting wellness through chiropractic care for nearly 30 years, Dr. Doyle Heimann, Chiropractor in Downers Grove, is committed to providing chiropractic care from his clinic in Downers Grove. Not every problem with your feet or ankles warrants an appointment with your podiatrist because sometimes all you need is time, rest, ice, anti-inflammatory medicine, and even a change of shoes. However, when certain problems sneak up and just won’t go away, that is a sure sign that you need an expert’s help. Foot pain is not normal, and putting up with painful feet is never comfortable. Put the right foot forward, and visit your podiatrist in Charlotte when a problem arises.

What is a Podiatrist?

Also called a doctor of podiatric medicine, a podiatrist is a medical specialist who provides the diagnosis and treatment for various foot and ankle conditions, such as bunions, heel pain, spurs, hammertoes, neuromas, ingrown toenails, and an array of others. A podiatrist will also render the care of sprains, fractures, infections, and injuries of the foot, ankle and heel.

More than ever, podiatrists are in demand because of the rapidly aging population. According to the American Podiatric Medical Association, foot disorders are among the most widespread and neglected health problems affecting people in this country. Podiatrists typically:

* Consult with patients and other physicians on how to prevent foot problems.
* Diagnose and treat tumors, ulcers, fractures, skin and nail diseases, and deformities.
* Perform surgeries to correct or remedy such problems as bunions, clawtoes, fractures, hammertoes, infections, and other ligament and tendon disorders.
* Prescribe therapies and perform diagnostic procedures such as digital x-rays and order lab tests.
* Treat conditions such as: bone disorders, bunions, corns, calluses, cysts, heel spurs, infections, ingrown nails, and plantar fasciitis.

When Should I See a Podiatrist?

Your podiatrist is specially trained to diagnose and treat all foot and ankle conditions. If you are having a specific foot problem, your best bet is to visit Dr. Basinger, your podiatrist in Charlotte, NC for the best care available. Several serious conditions, such as diabetes and peripheral arterial disease, can show up in your feet first, making it more important than ever to visit your podiatrist. Your podiatrist can spot a more widespread disease before most.

A Wound or Sore Does Not Heal

If you have an open sore on your foot or ankle, you should visit your podiatrist immediately. This is especially important if you have diabetes, as it usually takes you longer to heal. If you visit your podiatrist right away you will have a better chance at healing. Even more so, if you have had an open sore for a long time, your chance of getting a skin or bone infection increases. Don’t hesitate; visit Dr. Basinger, your Charlotte, NC podiatrist immediately.

Aging Feet

Some changes to your feet are normal as you age, but having pain isn’t one of them. As you begin putting more miles on your feet, you may notice that your feet may change shape, lose cushioning, experience skin changes; develop arthritis, and an array of other complications. It is important that as you age, you pay close attention to the health of your feet and contact your podiatrist whenever you experience pain, or other symptoms. Ignoring the natural changes that aging brings to your feet can hurt you in the end.

Pain Increasing with Activity or Lasting more than 24 Hours

If you are experiencing pain that gets worse with activity, this may be a sign of a stress fracture. You should not try to work through the pain; instead it is vital that you visit your podiatrist. If you treat a stress fracture early, you can potentially avoid more serious problems such as a stress fracture that will not heal, or one that turns into an actual broken bone.

Additionally, if your pain lasts for more than 24 hours do not be afraid to call your podiatrist. If there is a problem, it is better to deal with it sooner rather than later. There are many treatment options available for dealing with pain, but the first step is to figure out what is causing the pain.

Don’t ignore your foot or ankle pain. Visit your podiatrist for immediate diagnosis, and treatment, as well as prevention of the worsening of symptoms.

Sean Hartmen writes for Dr. Scott Basinger of Ankle and Foot Center of Charlotte, a leading podiatrist in Charlotte, NC and Ballantyne. Offering a full array of services, including heel pain, ingrown toenails, foot pain, orthotics and bunions in Charlotte, NC, Dr. Basinger is qualified to treat any disorder of the foot and ankle for patients of all ages.

If you notice a bump not far from your big toe that is red and throbbing, you may have a bunion. An enlarged bone on the joint at the bottom of your big toe, a bunion is an abnormality in the structure of the bones in your feet. Bunions are a common cause of foot pain, and wearing the wrong shoes can further aggravate your pain.

Bunions are most commonly treated by conservative means, involving such methods as shoe modification, padding and orthotics. If left untreated, bunions can develop into more severe pain and even arthritis. At-home care and prevention can help maintain the overall health of your feet, but it’s always best to treat any long-lasting foot problems by visiting a professional podiatrist in Metairie. He can advise you on the best treatments for preventing and eliminating bunions.

What are Bunions?

Bunions present themselves as an abnormal bony prominence over the big toe joint. Caused by a misalignment of the big toe joint, the big toe generally bends toward the others, growing larger in size. These can become painful and stiff, prohibiting normal mobility and function. Bunions can form for various reasons, including abnormalities in foot function or arthritis, but are most commonly caused by wearing tight and constrictive footwear. Because of this, women are affected by bunions more than men due to the frequent wearing of pointy-toed, high-heeled shoes.

What Causes Bunions?

Commonly experienced by women, bunions can develop from an abnormality in foot function, or arthritis, but is more commonly caused by wearing improper fitting footwear. Tight, narrow dress shoes with a constrictive toe box can cause the foot to begin to take the shape of the shoe, leading to the formation of a bunion.

Also known as hallux valgus, bunions are one of the most common forefoot problems. A bunion is a prominent bump on the inside of the foot around the big toe joint, which is a bone that protrudes towards the inside of the foot. It is common to find the big toe resting under or over the second toe with continued movement. Some symptoms of bunions include:

* Inflammation
* Swelling
* Soreness on the side surface of the big toe

Relief for your Bunion Pain

The best relief from bunions is prevention, and that means giving your feet a break from the heels. If a bunion begins to form, soaking feet in warm water can provide temporary relief in the early stages. To minimize your chances of developing a bunion, do not force your foot into a shoe that doesn’t fit. Improper fitting shoes are the leading cause of bunions and foot pain. Choose shoes that conform to the shape of your foot and do not fit too tightly.

If you already have a bunion, it is important to wear shoes that have enough room as to not put pressure on the bony projection. When a bunion progresses to the point where walking becomes difficult and conservative treatments aren’t effective, you may need surgery. A consultation with your podiatrist will be needed for further diagnosis and to develop a proper treatment plan.

If you are exhibiting pain in your feet or notice symptoms of a bunion, contact your Metairie podiatrist for further consultation. Your podiatrist can treat and suggest ways to alleviate and prevent your pain. Remember, no pain in your feet should go ignored.

Dr. Robert Kadish, podiatrist in Metairie, is a solo practitioner, practicing for over 15 years at Foot Health Centers, LLC. Providing an array of specialties, including heel pain, micro nerve surgery, toenail fungus, orthotics and bunions in Metairie, Dr. Kadish is committed to providing superior care for patients of all ages.

Are you suffering from back or leg pain? Can you remember the last time you even had a restful night’s sleep? Picture if you had tight elastic rolled up onto your upper arm and it was putting pressure down, cutting off circulation to the lower portion of your arm. If you leave it long enough you can see that the color will begin to change and it is very clear that your arm is struggling. It is the same thing with the back, only it isn’t as visible and takes a little more work than rolling off elastic.

Spinal Decompression is a good resource if you are looking to treat back problems like herniated discs, pinched nerves, sciatica, and degenerative disc disease. These back problems may be the result of an injury from a fall or a car accident, bad posture, bad body mechanics or just old age. It should not be used if the area has metal rods or screws in place, it will not treat myelitis or fractures.

What is a Herniated Disc?

A herniated disc refers to a problem with one of the discs, or rubbery cushions, between the individual bones (vertebrae) that stack up to make your spine. A spinal disc is a little like a jelly donut, with a softer center encased within a tougher exterior. Sometimes called a slipped disk or a ruptured disk, a herniated disc occurs when some of the softer “jelly” pushes out through a crack in the tougher exterior.

Additionally, a herniated disc can irritate nearby nerves and results in pain, numbness or weakness in an arm or leg. On the other hand, many people experience no symptoms, while many may need surgery to correct the problem.

What is Spinal Decompression?

Spinal decompression is used to treat back pain that is caused by problems such as a herniated disc or sciatica. Spinal stenosis makes the channels of the spinal column narrow, and pressure begins accumulating, causing the vertebrae to compress down on the discs in between. Such stress can lead to the damage that causes back problems such as bulged discs. It is used to reverse the effects and take stress off of the spine.

This therapy is beneficial because it treats the exact injured location, not just the symptoms. It goes right to the source of the problem. When the spine is compressed the flow of nutrients and blood is cut off leading to deterioration and breakage. Decompression can be achieved by using a therapeutic table that you are strapped into and a computer controls the table and it provides force and pressure to specific areas of the spine.

The force being used against the stressed area will slowly cause it to decompress and the proper blood flow and nutrients can begin to be absorbed. There is also the option of surgery to remove any discs or widen the channels. Using the spinal decompression therapeutic table often results in a permanent fix and for the most part, treatment is no longer needed again.

If you have tried taking medications, getting steroid shots, exercising, eating right and still have not found relief then decompression of the spine is a good idea because once you begin to get better you can stop missing time from work, and be able to become more active. Talk to your Alpharetta chiropractor today for more information on spinal decompression and how it can relieve your back pain.

Dr. Matt DiDuro, Alpharetta chiropractor, brings over 17 years of clinical experience working in the health care profession. He taught at Life University and helped develop the next generation of chiropractors. In 2008 he opened Health Choice Chiropractic Center, chiropractor in Alpharetta, for personalized patient care.

Poor oral health has been linked to heart disease, stroke, and other health problems. By changing certain habits, you can improve the health of your mouth, and teeth, and lessen your risk of developing health complications. Studies suggest that periodontitis is associated with diabetes, heart disease, and pneumonia, among other diseases. Some diseases are also associated with an increased risk of infections, such as diabetes which increases the risk of gingival and periodontal inflammation and infections.

When there is an underlying condition in play, your dentist may be able to draw an important connection between your oral health and your overall health. Neglecting your oral health can open the door to all sorts of health problems.

Oral Health and Heart Disease

Poor dental hygiene can cause a host of problems outside your mouth – including your heart. Medical research has uncovered a definitive link between heart disease and certain kinds of oral infections such as periodontal disease. Some have even suggested that gum disease may be as dangerous as, or more dangerous than other factors such as tobacco use.

In other words, infections and harmful bacteria that are found in your mouth can spread through the bloodstream to your liver. Your liver produces harmful proteins that can lead to systemic cardiac problems, which is why it is critical to practice good oral hygiene to keep infections at bay – including brushing, flossing and rinsing every day for proper dental health care.

Diabetes and Oral Health

Bleeding gums, dry mouth, fungal infections and cavities are all signs that might be a clue as to a serious health issue: diabetes. These symptoms can also suggest other serious conditions such as HIV and leukemia. Studies show that diabetics are more susceptible to the development of oral infections and periodontal disease.

Oral infections appear to be more severe in diabetic patients than non-diabetic patients because they may experience diminished salivary flow and a burning sensation of the mouth or tongue which can lead to a higher incidence of tooth decay. If you are a diabetic it is important to control your blood sugar levels, otherwise there is a tendency for increased oral health problems, especially gum recession.

Diabetics who receive proper dental care and control their insulin stand a better change of avoiding gum disease. In addition, they should maintain proper dental health care in order to prevent mouth and gum infections including periodontal disease, which require immediate attention. To keep your teeth and gums strong, diabetic patients should be aware of their blood sugar levels and have their triglyceride and cholesterol levels checked regularly. These may be a direct correlation in the development of periodontal disease.

According to the Academy of General Dentistry, there is a significant relationship between gum disease and health complications such as diabetes. Since most people have regular oral examinations, their dentist may be the first to diagnose a health problem in its early stages.

Visiting your dentist in Grosse Pointe regularly helps in maintaining the health of your mouth and allows your dentist to watch for unusual developments that may point to other health issues.

Dr. Mary Sue Stonisch of Faircourt Dental Smile Enhancement Studio is a leading Grosse Pointe dentist. Providing the best cosmetic and aesthetic dentistry that the Grosse Pointe area has to offer, Dr. Stonisch is qualified to handle any dental need for patients of every age including implants, saliva testing and in Grosse Pointe.

One or more missing teeth, or even a damaged tooth, can significantly affect the appearance and functionality of your smile. Missing teeth can cause a change in your bite, shifting of the teeth, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder, speech impediments, an increased risk for periodontal disease and a greater chance for developing tooth decay.

When tooth loss or damage occurs, what are your options to restore your smile? If a tooth damaged, a dental crown is typically used to preserve the functionality of your teeth. Dental bridges on the other hand, like implants, are used to replace missing teeth by filling the gap and are composed of up to two dental crowns for the teeth on either side.

Crowns Cover Damaged Teeth

If your tooth decay or dental damage is too extensive for veneers, direct composite bonding or other conservative treatments are not viable treatment options; your dentist may consult you about dental crowns. Whether the dental crowns are used to restore a damaged tooth or to create a lifelike tooth replacement for an implant, crowns can be fabricated in your dentist’s office for a one visit restoration.

Dental crowns are synthetic caps, usually made of porcelain, placed on the top of a tooth. They are a restoration that covers a tooth to restore it to its normal shape and size, which strengthens and improves the appearance of your damaged tooth. When your tooth is broken down and fillings are unable to solve your problem, crowns are necessary in order to restore function to your tooth.

With proper care, a good quality crown can last up to eight years or longer. After your crowns are placed, it is important to maintain proper oral hygiene. Be sure to floss in the area of the crown to avoid excess plaque or collection of debris around the restoration. Certain behaviors, such as jaw clenching or bruxism significantly shorten the life of a crown. Even more so, eating brittle foods, or chewing on ice and hard candy can compromise the adhesion of the crown, or even damage the crown.

Bridges Eliminate Gaps Left by Missing Teeth

Bridges are natural-looking dental appliances that can replace a section of your missing teeth. Since they are custom-made, bridges are not noticeable and can restore the natural contour of teeth, in addition to the proper bite relationship between upper and lower teeth. Sometimes referred to as fixed partial dentures, bridges are permanent and bonded to existing teeth or implants. Some bridges are removable and can be cleaned, while others need to be removed by your dentist.

Porcelain, gold alloys, or a combination of materials are typically used to make bridge appliances. Additionally, appliances called implant bridges are attached to an area below the gum tissue, or bone, to replace missing teeth.

If you have damaged or missing teeth, it is recommended that you visit your Grosse Pointe cosmetic dentists for further consultation on the best procedure for restoration. Dental crowns and bridges are not for everyone, but your Grosse Pointe dentist can help you find a treatment plan for an improved smile.

Dr. Mary Sue Stonisch of Faircourt Dental Smile Enhancement Studio is a leading dentist in Grosse Pointe. Providing the best cosmetic and aesthetic dentistry that the Grosse Pointe area has to offer, Dr. Stonisch is qualified to handle any dental need for patients of every age including Pointe saliva testing, implants and whitening.
